BR attorney basically admitted that this is about taking funds from BR and they would need to cut city funds in order to make up for what St. George would take away.

Forgive my ignorance, but how does St. George forming its own city take money away from the city of Baton Rouge?

Because St. George tax money is massive per capita. Compared to the neighboring areas

The sales tax revenue collected for the St George area currently goes into the general parish fund. It can be used for anything in the parish and by their attorneys own admission it is used for things outside of the SG area like grass cutting in BR.

The taxes generated from residents and businesses in the "St. George" area carry Baton Rouge right now. That's why SWB says it is racist to leave, because the black people don't pay any taxes and Baton Rouge would be fricked without a small portion of the population paying for everything.

St George being unincorporated means any tax money from there goes into the EBR parish general fund before being spent.

By law, 50% of the general fund is spent on BRPD and BRFD. BRPD only covers within the city limits of BR and BRFD has definite limits which don’t include all of BR.

Short version - the parish as a whole is paying a shite ton of money for shitty police protection in other parts of the parish.
