I guarantee you most of Trump base will probably forgive him and give him another look in 2028.

He doesn’t need to be forgiven, he hasn’t done anything wrong. He just wasn’t going to beat Trump when everyone outside of Florida knew him as a Trump supporter

It never made sense for him to run this time. You can’t just roll out of bed and take half of Trump supporters and proceed to pout about it when it doesn’t work out. I read this board almost daily and am still fascinated by the Ron supporters just not comprehending what needed to happen, and failing to reconcile it that with what has actually happened.

Furthermore, in that same vein, if PACs that support Desantis (and/or Haley) are still shoveling out the dough…….wonder why??

It’s easy to understand if you’ve been around long enough. The Presidency is a giant prize. Even if the odds are 20 to 1 it’s worth spending $50 million to buy that ticket, which is worth billions if it hits. Also, the odds are not as long as you think. There is probably one chance in 25 that Trump dies before the convention. There is probably an equal chance that his legal troubles disqualify him. What are the odds that he does something so stupid that he becomes toxic? Long odds, sure, but still playable.

I admit that I didn’t understand the rabid loyalty to Trump.

Living in Florida and seeing first hand what he did, how he handled Covid and how he sliced up the liberal press making them look stupid with facts had me hopeful that he could take that to the rest of the nation.

During Covid at Orlando regional health he had a press conference with infectious disease docs and he with the help of the docs smashed the mask hysteria.

It was a thing of beauty. I watched him speak many times and he is good, real good in that environment.

I really didn’t understand that the rest of the country didn’t see those things.

It’s too bad. He would have been a great President in my opinion.
