With "conservatives" like Kemp, who needs liberals?

1) All in on "EVs."
2) All in on hanging out with globalist shitbags.
3) All in on making sure Trump can't win Georgia.

Georgia's governor says more clean energy will be needed to fuel electric vehicle manufacturing

quote:

It's Kemp's second year in a row to visit the forum of world business and political leaders.

quote:

The fellow members of Kemp's panel said that electric vehicles need to be made with electricity that isn't produced by burning coal, oil or natural gas that emits world-warming carbon dioxide. Zeng Yuqun, founder and chairman of Chinese battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., or CATL, said a “dirty battery," or one produced with lots of carbon emissions, is “big trouble.”

“That’s why I’m looking for sustainability in all of this very quickly,” said Zeng, one of China's richest people.

I will at least give some credit and say I'm glad they're building nuclear plants in GA.

Populism, not Globalism will be our credo!

I'd take 10 Jimmy Dores or Tulsi Gabbards over 1 Pettifigger or Kemp or Cheney.

Populism isn’t a credo. It’s unsurprising that populists don’t know that.

It's about jobs. Georgia has a new Hyundai plant and a new Rivian plant coming on line soon.

These are high paying manufacturing jobs, the kind Governors don't turn away.

If Hyundai and Rivian wanted to build a plant in Louisiana would you turn it away? Go elsewhere? Answer the question.

Is there something wrong with producing more clean energy? The only thing clean energy he is quoted as saying is the two new nuclear energy plants. We should have thousands of them across the US. The only person in the article quoted as saying no more fossil fuel is a Chinese guy who happened to be on the same panel. Just because they were on the panel together doesn't mean they agree with each other on everything. I'd say, this no fossil fuel guy being Chinese, that the two agree on very little.

The real story:

Kemp told the manufacturers to build plants in Georgia and use nuclear power from our new nuclear power plant so you can meet your self-imposed carbon emission goals.

Kemp won election because the alternative was Stacy Abrams. Raffensperger won because he cheated. Kemp and Raffenturd gave georgia to the marxist democrats. I'm tired of hearing that Ga just didn't show up to vote. That's bull$hit and this is what we are dealing with....cheaters. Kemp is a china cuck and would sell his momma out to be the next George Bush in the Whitehouse.

The dumb Trump saga on this board aside, I think the more useful discussion is a broader one - whether it's a net negative for right-leaning governors, mayors, etc. to prioritize economic success of a state if it means welcoming in questionable corporate policy/influence/funded agendas.

Film is probably the most discussed one on here from the industry's looting of Louisiana, but also applicable to GA and Kemp. Not to beat a dead horse but DeSantis is the first GOP governor I can recall going public with the idea that Florida may need to tell some corporate interests no and sacrifice those dollars to keep bad ideas and influences out of the state.

I don't know Kemp's actions on EVs merit criticism, but I do think it's an area where Kemp and other R governors have sometimes been short sighted, if reasonably well intentioned.

Just like a college coach on a recruiting visit-

from the article in OP:

quote:

“Talking to the companies that we’re recruiting, people that are looking to the state, they obviously want to produce with clean energy," Kemp said.
