Ask a farmer… they will tell you the first freeze used to be in October in the south delta. The last time I remember being chilly during early bow season was around 1990..

According to weather data from the St. Joseph weather station, the average first freeze 5 years out of 10 (32° or lower) occurred on or before November 18 between 1981 and 2010.

From 1991 to 2020, the average date was November 16.

I guess a farmer can say what he wants, but weather don't lie.

And just for shits, from 1951 to 1980, the average date was November 7.

Climate data says other wise October freezes have always been rare here.

We had frost the last 3 years in vermillion parish in Oct
Like 34 degrees in Gueydan - so the South Delta surely had a freeze

Also the long term avg temps don't show much variation in the last 50 years like you claim
