Anyone else surprised by the lack of transfers after the staff acquisitions?

I'm not complaining - still very, very happy with the coaches we've brought in this offseason.
But I'm a little surprised it hasn't resulted in some defensive guys transferring over. Even guys that have left Mizzou didn't follow Baker/Peoples.
Especially with this mass exodus at Bama. I thought newly acquired staff would grab the attention of some of these guys but we either seem to be missing on all of them or not trying(which feels unlikely).
Am I the only one a little surprised?

Yes. Considering we have a great DL coach and 0 signees. A bit perplexed

Spots are limited so we have to be selective. If there's a can't miss guy that wants to come, obviously we would take him.

No one should be surprised. We have bodies. We need impact bodies. Slim pickings in that regard currently in the portal.

I'll be more surprised if we don't add anyone come May.

False. We need bodies at DT

If I understand it right the only guys that can enter portal now are from schools that lost a coach.
It may be quiet until spring

It seems we’re still getting beat out by the big money schools. They can throw cash at whatever, we can’t

Give it some time microwave generation.

Perception vs Reality. The perception of LSU fans around the portal is currently fear- based. LSU fans make fear- based assumptions that aren’t based in things they actually know. Thus the actual strategy that our excellent staff has is unknown, but the fear of is not seeming to have a strategy is what gets kicked around this board as if it’s a fact. We don’t know what we don’t know. And this staff is always very quiet. I have faith they will address the DL and CB issue we have . Additions and subtractions between now and the spring period. They will just do it on their time, not ours.

No. As I understand, they weren't going to bring in a double digit transfers. They also aren't going to get into bidding wars for unproven players (Dez Ricks).

We are going to get a few more transfers, we are far from done recruiting DT and CB specifically.
Trey Amos will be a top CB target, and we will get 1-2 DT transfers zero doubt. There's just hardly any quality at DT right now in portal.
We also arent going scorched earth on the portal because as it stands right now we have like 89 scholarship players so 4 guys on the current roster need to leave for us to even hit numbers. We take say 3 more guys between portal/high school class that's 7 guys off the current roster who STILL need to take a hike.

You say patience but it doesn’t really apply here. A program with elite talent is watching players fly out the door after a coaching change, and they’re picking new teams fast.
There’s no reason we shouldn’t be in play for some of these guys and we haven’t grabbed any.
We can pretend our staff is zen masters who have a plan, but the truth is there’s a lot of elite players leaving Bama right now and you all know they’d be huge additions to our team.

Give me a great dline man in the portal the last week? Just one that we’d want to kick another guy off the team to make room for

This is such a tired take that it's almost comical it is still being repeated. LSU is not hurting for money. They just spent a ton of it getting the coaches they want. They also flipped several guys from the aggies who were one of the biggest spenders around. You think they decided to come play for a discount?
Look at the upcoming recruiting class, you think any of those guys decided to ignore the dump trucks full of cash and come play for the love of the game at LSU? Not getting into a bidding war over players obviously playing both sides is far different than not wanting to spend money.

I read or heard somewhere that it is likely that Baker won't go after Mizzu players as a respect thing with coach Drink. Who knows if that's true or not.
I also saw where Shea said that they are still looking at another JUCO guy that should graduate in the spring. A defensive lineman.

I think what he meant was we arent just throwing money everywhere like some schools do.
Dezz Ricks was simply a case of a guy we were interested in but he wanted a much bigger bag than we were willing to pay and told him not interested. We can pay for some guys, but we arent going to overpay for someone if that makes sense. We are not going out there especially and competing with the absurdly high offers going around like someone Caleb Downs would get.

1. We don't have room to be adding bodies. They have to make the team better.
2. Different people have different priorities. At LSU, we go for really good players, and they have a price tag. It appears that the bag people at LSU aren't trying to overpay for bag chasers.
