re: Since hiring its new coach, the silence from the Alabama fans has been deafening!

The reality is this. Alabama is a great football program with the best resources in college football. DeBoer has been an excellent coach everywhere he’s been. Alabama will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.
Everything you stated was accomplished by Saban. Apparently, you don't remember prior to Saban, there was Shula, Dubose, Mike Price and even Rich Rodriguez for a few hours. I don't think they will become Vandy, but I do predict they will become a middle of the road SEC team and join teams like Tennessee and Kentucky. As for winning everywhere he's gone, 64% of his wins were at the NAIA level. There are a lot of coaches walking around with impressive records, but once you dissect their record, it's clear their record is very misleading.

We have all heard the commentators talk about the Saban tree and all the quality coaches who branched off of that tree.
Jimbo,Kirby, Sark, and Kiffin to name a few.
I would have bet money Bama would have gotten one of those guys.

Seems a tad hyperbolic imho
Careful those big words will really confuse people on here.

Where was LSU before Saban? Middling along with the likes of Kentucky, MSU and Ole Miss. If I recall correctly Bama had more titles than us prior to Saban. Then he doubled us in the same time span. Are they going to be what they were under Saban? Not likely but while we are celebrating, we are still chasing UGA. Why are we celebrating?

Agree with you 100%
The only difference here is that DeBoer is taking over the nations most popular brand in college football with the most titles in CFB history by a lot.
The GOAT left essentially on top...17 years consecutive of #1 or #2 ranked recruiting classes, he NEVER dipped below that standard.
Thus, the roster is fully of HS all Americans, the resources are tremendous, the people at Alabama will leave no stone uncovered in order to try to continue to be the best. The process and culture at Alabama is well entrenched.
In short, DeBoer is set up to win big, but we all know, it's VERY LIKELY Alabama is going to experience a dip but not sure it will be as much as many fans hope.

These are the Alabama fans listening to DeBoer for the first time at his introductory press conference (from a coaching changes thread)

Why are you posting about Bama on the LSU Board? Who cares what Bama fans think of their new coach?
Posted on 1/14/24 at 10:55 am to SwampyWaters
I actually think the guy is going to do well...not Nick Saban well, but normal, sensible, reasonable ... well.
Not good enough for the Gumps, but anyone else would be happy to have him which means we get to enjoy their frustration and misery for a while....!

To be fair, LSU fans didn't greet Saban with open arms it was more a "Who in the hell is this guy?"
Maybe casual fans said that, but I was happy about it.

I'm not detecting a lot of "silence"
Most gumps are acting like they just hit a grand slam and the rest of us are terrified

Why are we celebrating?
A team we play every year, a team that is always a national contender just had their all time great coach retire. Duh.

I thought he came across as very timid and over his head with the shadow of Saban cast over him. His press conference was nothing more than pandering to a Saban base that was very uninspiring at best.

The underrated thing that happened with all this is the news that Saban will still be around at Bama.
…and bama fans thinking that’s gonna be a good thing.

Deboer never lost to Lanning, Sark, or Riley, 3-0 2-0 2-0 respectively

Stop worrying about Bama and enjoy what’s in front of us

Bama’s “new coach” just played for a title. How is that a bad thing?

It's always seemed odd to me that people who consider themselves football fans were unaware of just how good a football coach Nick Saban was when he was hired by LSU. They apparently just looked at his record at Michigan State, overlooking the sanctions they were under and their little brother status in Michigan.
I remember an article written by Dennis Dodd at the time where he stated that, for the outrageous sum of $1,2M, LSU could have done so much better.
I was thrilled with the hire from day one, and I was surprised that no one else seemed to be.

We hired a young Nick Saban from Michigan State. He had one season of 4 where they finished ranked (1999 - 6th at 10-2) but still didn’t win the conference. I believe Wisconsin was stout that year.
At a similar age, Deboer already has a much better resume.
