I don't see any scenario where Willie benches Herb as long as he's the coach. That's just isn't going to happen.

It’s not specifically for this year. It’s for cap flexibility moving forward, too.

If you’re a team like the Pelicans, it’s malpractice not to explore a trade. Again, this is moot if he’s already agreed to an extension that they’ll announce later.

Outside of Boogie, he's the best center we've had since Tyson Chandler

It would equally be malpractice if this team is a 3 or 4 seed at the deadline and we make a trade that makes us worse.

If you're a team like the Pelicans, that's not something that happens often. You can't just punt a season away when that happens. You have to go all in.

For the record, I'm not saying under no circumstances should we trade Val. I am saying that in no way should we trade Val just for the sake of ducking the tax and getting a small return that does not make us better if we're a legit top 4 ish West team.

By win percentage to date, this is the 2nd best team we've ever had. We can't make a tax saving trade and get worse if we continue to play this well by the deadline.

If we do, you can take that as a signal of the death of this franchise because if that happens, that is your giveaway that Gayle will never ever ever pay the tax. That is not hyperbole, if we have the 2nd best team we ever put out there and are a top 4 ish seed AND we duck the tax and get worse, she ain't ever paying the tax.

Unless you count Anthony Davis.

The drop off after those four is pretty insane, though. I guess Emeka would be fifth?

JMO. For some reason & whether right or wrong...Coaches seem to place a bit more value on a player like Herb...than most fans do.

No one is saying this will happen.

If suspect if they’re trading him, they’re adding assets and getting back someone “better”.

It's also makes sense to start Herb when you consider our roster construction. The rotations becomes ridiculously unbalanced if you have Jose, Naji, Dyson and Herb all starting the game on the bench.

It would be George Shinn trying to trade Tyson Chandler for Chris Wilcox and Joe Smith all over again a.k.a. the day that Chris Paul and David West decided that they wouldn't re-sign with New Orleans.

No one. Fortunately, you can add salary to trades. You can also do more than one trade per deadline.

We are in the west. Who else is? Joker.

JV is one of 2 or 3 guys in the league that stand any sort of chance of making things harder for Joker. He also makes Joker defend. No other C in the west makes Joker defend. JV is an asset. I will never understand this board's infatuation with trading for Myles Turner.

He provides the two things the current center doesn’t really have. The same two things our stars have desperately needed on the floor with them.

JV stands no chance to make things harder for Joker.

AD made Joker defend in the WCF last season. It did not matter at all. Joker averaged 28/15/12 in the series.

His rebounding alone should keep him on the floor

There is no perfect “replacement” for Val at his price range for what he offers.

Our best solution is to try and keep him while drafting/ acquiring young centers until we find our guy.

You’d give up salary or assets for a slight upgrade.

If we can get Val back for around 15mil that would be a steal. It’s just a question of if he’d want to come back in my opinion.

This is unless Turner or someone else just flat out says they want to be here somehow

If we were just trying to duck the tax we wouldnt need to trade JV to do that. All it takes is a Kira dump which would just cost a 2nd and some cash

The last game they played Dever, Joker was clearly bothered. He's still getting his stats, but he was labored in doing so.

AD, while a decent defender still, doesn't have the aggression inside to truly attempt to defend Joker.

JV has the size, build, and aggression to make Joker's night a long one. I think JV would be invaluable against Joker in a series.

JV can't defend on the perimeter. Jokic would play him off the court real quick. Jokic is on cruise control in the regular season. When the playoffs hits, he's a different animal. He will exploit your weaknesses repeatedly until he plays you off the court.
