when I was in high school I was with my pal, George and we were standing outside a corner drug store. George was a blonde headed guy and a lady walked up and she looked at George and said, "you look just like your father."

George said no, my dad has black hair. She responded, "I meant your real dad." Turns out his black haired dad had adopted him after marrying his mom. George went off the deep end , drinking and fighting til he finished high school.

He finally turned it around after joining the army. He later said to me he wished they had told him about his adoption when he was young.

Similar story happened to my ex-wife. When she was 16, she ran into some old lady who said, "You're X's daughter!" My ex says, "No, my dad is Y and my mom is Z" The old lady says, "I know. I went to school with your mom and you dad is X". She goes home corners her mom who tells her that she and X dated in high school, they got married (shotgun) and it lasted only a year after my ex was born. When my ex was 3, her mom married who my ex thought was her dad, he adopted her and they got a new birth certificate made showing that he was her dad (They did that shite in the 60'). Her mom was never going to tell her who her biological dad was. She ended up having a relationship with her biological dad and he was a pretty cool guy.

Shame on her, who does this, and then just walks away not knowing what that statement could do to a person?
