Yeah people can be really shitty. My adopted family tried to keep me from being a pall bearer at it grandmother's funeral. I was told that only biological grandkids were allowed. I will never forget how hurt I was when they pulled that shite. I did it anyway and dared them to try and stop me.

That's totally screwed up, but it happens unfortunately. One of my wife's aunts said something that let let my wife's two cousins know that she didn't consider them real family members because they were adopted and it really hurt them. To say it pissed me and my wife off -- and surprised us -- is an understatement. Never thought of that aunt in the same way since.

Creating a child is something most anyone can do and it can be done in a few seconds. Raising a child, being a parent, a good parent, is something else entirely and is a lifelong commitment.

I'm sorry they did that to you and I'm glad you chose to be a pall bearer any way. Good for you.
