Feldman touched on that as well, said the basic vibe he got from the Alabama staff when that happened was "it's totally fine if Lane isn't here". I imagine he rocked the boat too much with Saban and it just worth having him around.

When he took the head coaching job at FA (or whichever small Florida school it was)

He wasn’t really fired. He had already quit to go to FAU. Saban just thought his loyalties were split leading up to the championship and sent him packing.
