Longest-lasting Tiger currently in the NFL.
Was on the 2006 Les Miles-Jimbo-Bo Pelini team that won the Sugar Bowl vs ND.
Played for Saints, Bucs, Steelers, Titans, Seahawks, Colts, Steelers and Jets.
A real survivor.

Way to go Big Al. Didn’t see this NFL success coming, congrats to him.

It’s crazy seeing him and some other guys still playing on the Dline.
Calais Campbell was a dlinemen for the Miami Hurricanes when LSU played them in the 05 peach bowl. Campbell is still starting today in 2024 lol

He was a 4th round draft pick by the Saints

One of the nicest, humblest guys I ever met in and around HS football. Very happy to see all his hard work rewarded

I think he tore his achilles tendon earlier this year. Hoping he's able to come back and end things on his terms.

Played for the Seahawks also.

Fantastic! Dude was legit at LSU.

If any of you guys are from Elton — do you know if Danny Soileau is still with us? (One of best prep backs I ever saw. Had bad injury luck at LSU and later in life.)

Really good dude from what I’ve been told

i don't think anyone did... considering all the higher rated guys that have come out of LSU, Woods has had the longest career out of all of them.... much like Kyle Williams for the Bills... decent player at LSU, not necessarily dominate by any stretch, but really sorta hit their stride in the NFL and had long careers being solid players...

Thanks for heads up on Danny. A sad story. Life wasn’t kind to him. When did he die?
Also, his teammate back then, Larry Chretien?
Elton had some great teams back then. But I never saw Al Woods until he signed with LSU.

Larry is still alive. Ran into him around Easter. Heard a lot of stories about Danny Soileau, Larry Chretien, & Donnie Bruchhaus. Small town has some talent.
Danny has probably been dead for 20 years if I had to guess. It’s been a while.

Thanks. Larry was also a very tough kid and great RB. Donnie Brucchaus was a flat stud. Not as good as Danny though.
During their era, Acadiana put out some studs including Tony Citizen and Buford Jordan. (And the kid from Kinder.)

Buford Jordan.
—Wow, there’s a name from the past.

Speaking of Buford, how good was Simon?
Posted on 1/7/24 at 4:20 pm to La Squared
Simon was a good back but not in the same league as Buford (who should have been at LSU).
Another good one from those days was Blake Courville.
McNeese feasted on LSU snubs. RB Jordan, RB Citizen, FB Courville

Yea Danny has passed. If I’m not mistaken he was fairly young when he passed. Heart attack I believe. My uncle was on that mid 70’s team with and Larry chretien. The team with Donnie Bruchhaus that won state in 70 was good but older guys I’ve talked to said that team in either 76 or 78 was the best Elton ever had from top to bottom. Including the qb, all four backs in the backfield were all state on either offense or defense. Mike Bazinet was another guy that was tough in that group also. Were a very small town but have had some solid athletes come through Elton over the years.
