I know you guys pretty much hate everything east of you...so you may find this funny.

PJ signed a 7-year contract worth $11 million with us last year...averages $1.6 million.

Auburn told him they wanted to talk about a contract worth $3 million annually over 5 years for a total of $15 million.

He said 'no thanks'.

B. Lowder...prestigious Auburn alum =

No one wants the Auburn job with Saban at Bama, Auburn was foolish to fire TT.

PJ's offensive schemes would've made the SEC all the more interesting. We've already got fireworks here with UF's spread, Houston Nutt's Wild Reb and some other hybrid offenses springing up at other schools. I hope we beat y'all in the bowl game, but GT is the one ACC team I watch on TV on account of your offense. I also liked Johnson at Navy, since the Middies are another team I follow. Anyway, sounds like Johnson's a man of INTEGRITY and CHARACTER—in other words, not Auburn material.

I think the Saban hype is a bit over done

I heard that Lowder said 'no' to Gill. He does not like him as a HC.

It is amazing how that cowtown's football program is run...laughable.

The link below is from the Birm News where it is stated PJ told Auburn he had no interest.
The details of the offer I know from being extremely close to the program.

What is disappointing to me is that I always considered Auburn to be a step above UGA, Tenn, Alabama, etc....so recent happenings by powerful alumni are surprising to me. I still will always hate Alabama.

The two teams I hate worse than anyone...UGA, then Alabama. Always have, always will.

Just like when Tulane in baseball beat LSU in 2001 in the super regional. Lots of people said that Tulane was the program of the future in LA.

Why would Johnson leave GT for Auburn? He can win an average of 7-9 games per year at Tech, and still have job security. He would have to at least win the SEC West every few years at AU to stay off the hot seat. He is a smart coach who is building something decent over at Tech, why leave?

Well...$1.4 million extra reasons each year had me concerned.

Plus..for some coaches the academic recruiting restrictions at GT would be a bummer...but I do not think Paul cares.

Johnson did pretty well with even tougher academic standards at Navy, so I don't think you have to worry there.

Besides, GT does have a business school now so the football players can stay far far away from any E classes.

Not completely true. We have always had a Management major at GT...I graduated with it in 1991. Unlike my buddies at UGA, Auburn, etc who took business there...you have to take one year of engineering electives, one year of a strong science (either Physics, Chemistry, or Biology)...and you have to take calculus-based math courses your freshman year. Also...because the only majors at GT are essentially Management, Engineering (many varieties), Computer Science, Architecture, Physics, Biology, and Science & Technology....there are no easy electives to find when you have to fill what seems like a zillion elective hours. We do not have a physical education major...and any education. We do not have a music major, liberal arts, etc. There is just nowhere to find GPA booster classes.

I graduated from high school in a nice suburb of Atlanta as a National Honor Society student...then graduated from GT with a 2.27 GPA. The average GPA of my GT graduating class was 2.62. GT kicked my butt while my partying buddies at UGA and Auburn had higher GPA's than they had in high school !

An athlete at GT has to want to get their degree...there is nowhere to hide. They do not necessarily have to be a genius...but they have to want it and want to use a lot of study hall/tutor time.

That is why freshman athletes at GT are required to take study hall every morning between 6am and 8am...and again in the evening after dining hall. Until you have made it through your first year...and have a certain GPA...you can start cutting back on mandatory study hall/tutor time.
