The more of Zion's backup minutes Trey gets, the less we can play Trey with Zion. We should be staggering the 2 as little as possible.

I agree, but that doesn't mean i want Nance playing the 4.

You wouldn't give up a first for Claxton?
The rest are just fillers.

You gonna play a dumb 2 center lineup if you go get him?
I clearly pointed out that the JV/Larry lineups have been pretty terrible.
If not, you think he's going to be ok with DNP's most nights, and you think we'll be ok being a tax team just to have a $10M backup to our backup center sit the bench, and then likely sign somewhere else this offseason unless we get rid of JV or Larry?

Isiah LIvers from Detroit would be an interesting backup 4 to get for Kira. He was a 2nd round pick, but is a very active defender and shot 38% from 3 his first 2 years. Had a bad ankle sprain right before the season started this year and hasnt' shot well once he came back this year, and he's in the last year of his rookie 2nd round deal.

No there are games where JV is a bad match up, but Larry doesn't have the length to match up with the teams starters. You would then use Claxton for those games and vice versa.

Same would be in the postseason.

Who cares what they want. You then decide at the end of the season to re-sign either JV or Claxton for basically another shite draft pick.

please name a center that both JV and Larry don't matchup well with, but Claxton does.

It's situational at the time or series, not history.

Look It's 2 scenarios.

1. You need to give up JV, Dyson and a 2024 for a Allen type player

OR

2. Fillers and 2024 for Claxton.

There are no other options to upgrade the C position. I'd gamble with option 2 before option 1 and having Allen's salary on the books when he only slightly moves the needle.

Claxton also out performed Allen last playoffs too.

Claxton weighs 215lb, and is the lightest center in the league after Chet and Wemby, and he sure as shite isn't anywhere near their level.

I have no idea why anyone would want him to come in and be our backups backup, making us a tax team, while losing a 1st round pick. It's beyond ridiculous.

The mindset should be more in line with Kira for Koloko, or Bruno Fernando or Nick Richards, etc.

I'd be happy with Richards for Kira, but not sure that happens.

For dudes who have contested at least shots per game inside 6ft, I see Claxton with the 9th what DFG% in the NBA, and those other dudes not even close to the Claxton 51.6% DFG%

Also regarding the tax, it ain't my money, I'll never root for us to cut corners to stay under the tax.

If Atlanta is looking for moves Bogdanovic would help this team off the bench .

Our 2nd unit could use an offensive threat that can go get a bucket .

Claxton looked pretty good against OKC today.

He also outplayed Allen last year in the playoffs.

Claxton is on an expiring UFA contract reportedly expecting $20-25 million per year this summer. So he's not going to want to be a backup or 3rd string Center behind Jonas (also expecting a new contract and starting role) or Nance.

He's showing this year he can't handle most large starting Centers with size, with backup Sharpe often playing better than him. Go check Nets Twitter about him. I used to be excited about him as the Center of the future, but eh, not anymore.

He played really well against the thunder tonight. I would say hes a situational center who could definitely be useful in the playoffs.

Would you want him on a $22 million/yr. contract for 4 years? If not, then you're giving up assets for a few month rental. Claxton's agent is the same as Zion's, interestingly.

I would trade Kira and probably a heavy protected firsts for a half a year for him. I honestly don’t think those are huge assets especially kira. Plus the goal would be to get under the tax.

Ok, now imagine you are a Nets fan. Why would you want to accept that trade of "Kira and probably a heavy protected firsts" for your good, young player? They could take a better trade offer from another team or just wait til the offseason to re-sign him or find a sign-and-trade.
