He was a terrible late hire. He wasn’t going to make an impact. Hence why we fired him

I don’t mean play him as the Jack or DE every down brother but on 3rd and long or obvious passing downs he should’ve been rushing the passer. He was still our best pass rusher by far and provides an upfield rush we didn’t have all season.

here was very good legitimate reasons why irish had to force BK to fire house.
when BK stupidly brought him here, i knew it was going to be a shite show.
BK caused this problem 100%
WTF are you babbling about?
House had never worked for Kelly prior to being hired as DC at LSU. Irish?????? House never was at ND.

Complexity of scheme, if not well taught and engrained into the players minds will lead to even a split second of indecisiveness…that’s all that is required for a defense to fail. That’s what I witnessed in 2023 season. Defense has to be played with all the thinking happening pre snap…then played instinctively, fast with furious aggression…something completely lacking as a full Defensive unit this past season

Not sure, but this was hands down one of the worst defenses LSU has seen in a long time. If not for Daniels, we could have easily have had a 6-7 win season. I pray Coach Kelly finds a really good DC.

That’s not all on the players. House ran a read and react scheme.
Did he? i've not heard this before. if so, it explains a lot. it was the second coming of Lou Tepper. but even Lou's defense wasn't this bad.

quote:When you look at the talent gone from last year’s roster compared to the players who took their place, I do see quite a drop off in talent. Of course it is the main job of the coaching staff to make sure that doesn’t happen.
did not have a catastrophic loss of talent

I’m beginning to think he lost the respect of the players. Wingo has posted several things lately that seem to indicate that. I think House was a poor communicator which makes sense as to why the players looked lost, out of position.

House sucks end of story

Gave up:
40 to Tennessee
38 to 8&4
50 to Georgia
They also gave up two TDs and a FG to Bama in the 4th.
Florida also scored 35 points, but some of that was after LSU pulled away.
I wouldn't say 2022 was good, but they certainly made several more clutch plays than 2023.

Turnovers we averaged less than 1 fumble and less than 1 interception per game...
money downs...3rd down and 11 was the same thing as 3rd and 1 for the oppenents so many times.
Safety play on big plays was really bad technique.
that is my 3 KPIs for 2023 defense that they failed at.
Quality control guys on defense needed to do more work....lack of prep and film work on opponents was obvious...there literally were simple schemes that were beating LSU no reason to get exotic...FLA St realized this at half and so did the rest of the country...the wins LSU had were because we could out athlete them....the losses were because the athletes couldn't overcome the lazy schemes.
