It is absolutely insane that Zion can play 20 minutes of nba basketball and not take one fricking ft. He needs to come out and get fined after a big public win. frick this bullshite. Every fricking night I watch this dude get blatantly fouled, but because he's not some puss arse flopper like Embiid he never gets called.

"David Stern wonders why the league is losing money. That's why. People paid good money to come watch these athletes play and they try to take over the fricking game!"
-Shaq
-Zion
-Michael Scott

Edit:my bad, I thought people would recognize that Shaq quote

He does?

But yes you’re right. AD talked about it on the broadcast when Zion got the tech how refs pick on the quiet ones.

It would also be nice if his coach would lose it when the hack fest occurs on Zion and nothing is called. If a flat-liner like Willie would get tossed it would call some attention to it. I brought this up last year; the organization needs to be discussing how best to handle this. Because it’s a recurring problem that he just gets such an infrequent whistle.

Zion was 13 when David Stern retired.

I mean it was extremely appropriate for him to lose his shite on that no call to get the technical. The first moving screen call they gave him a foul for was atrocious also.

Ah. Some quotation marks may have helped him convey that.

Zion is a physical player that initiates contact. The league does not promote that type of play anymore, so they are not going to reward it. If you expect him to live at the line and get every call, you are going to be disappointed forever. It's not that type of game anymore.

Lebron James is powerful, but he is a finesse player and a dramatic actor. Zion needs to start acting like he's been shot everytime he's bumped or he's not going to get calls. Instead he's scowling and flexing. Nobody going to reward or acknowledge fouls if he's doing all that.

My point is he has to adapt one way or another. The refs are not going to dramatically change. Getting techs isn't going to work and it's getting tiring hearing people cry about it. It's been the same thing his entire career..

The dude died four years ago. He’s not wondering anything. Also, the league is doing just fine.

He didn't initiate shite on that no call man. He had a free dunk at the rim and players are grabbing his shoulder and pushing him back with their non shot blocking arm. It's bullshite.

Even the non biased fans on Reddit are saying he has one of the worst whistles in the league. It's just wild. Guys like Giannis play the same way and get to the line way more. It's bullshite. Stop defending the abuse.

That's the play, what is physical about what zion did there?

Your whole post is lamenting Zions whole career and lack of whistles. Then you want me to debate a single play?

Yeah, it's a missed call. Focus on that. It sucks. He's not doing himself any favors and it's not going to change. He has to adapt or accept it and move on. He is having great success as is. So maybe it's fine as is. But you are rallying for a paradigm shift in officiating, that's not going to happen. But keep wishing. We can do this all again after the next game...

I don't understand the hate on refs and the constant bitching about calls. NBA refs are elite. It's far more difficult to be a ref than a player. That's a numerical fact. There are less of them and their careers are long. There have only been 3 former players in history to become a NBA ref. So if it was that simple, then why wouldn't more try to do it.

We are really happy when a player shots over 50%, plays solid defense most of the time and doesn't turn it over a bunch. Yet people demand refs be correct 100% of the time. That isn't possible. The refs are actually graded every game (by an independent agency) and demoted/fired if they are failing. How many players could survive that level of scrutiny?

So you've never seen Ja Morant, Trae Young, SGA, Austin Reaves, or any number players that put a shoulder into the defender to get space but get a foul called on the defender? How is that any different from what Zion does? Hell, BI does it.

ETA: Refs pick an choose when to call it. Either call it for everyone or no one.

I'd be happy if they simply called all of the arm/wrist slaps that cause most of his turnovers. Zion is terrible in crunch time as the "lead guard" because the refs allow the other team to foul him into a turnover most of the time.

I just wish they wouldn't call it for anyone.

Let the game be more physical.

I'm sick of little bitches like Ja and Trae Young flopping everywhere.

You should be allowed to body a player driving to the basket as long as it's not excessive.

Look there is no doubt reffing an NBA game is incredibly difficult. But is it your opinion that because it’s difficult we shouldn’t try to have better officiating? That refs shouldn’t be instructed to call it the same way for both teams regardless of how famous the player wearing the uniform is? Would it be impossible for the league to instruct its officials to quit rewarding guys for selling contact constantly? It will never be perfect, but it can be better. Things can change.

The point is it should be consistent. Since the consistency is not there it reduces Zion and the Pels strategic and talent advantage.

If they didn’t call a bunch of touch fouls for some of these guards and smaller wings then about Steph and Dame would be the only big scorers in the game that size.
