Nuss Observations

A couple of things other than the stats impressed me about Nuss.
1. Even when he made mistakes, he maintained his composure. His confidence level is pretty high, and I think the team fed off that.
2. He seemed to have total command of the offense and what the coaches were trying to do. He took control pre-snap on several occasions, in particular on the winning TD play, to get us into the right play.
I just hope the new OC doesn't hinder him too much with whatever changes are coming. It is imperative that he have a firm grasp of the new offense heading into the next season.

It’s Kelly’s offense so I don’t think we have to work about a new OC holding him back any. We will see

I disagree here. He kept trying to force it to happen when we were in a bind. He has a rocket arm and seems like a polite and humble kid. He's got some work to do before next season.

He finished pretty well, but a couple things I think he needs to work on for next year is:
1. Have a better idea where the down markers are on 3rd down.
2. Be willing to be a runner 2-3 times a game.

The odds of Nuss hitting his full potential next year is not great but that’s not saying he can’t be really good. However, we should be looking to cash in on his full potential in the 2025 season with an elite players throughout the offense. The oline would be the only big question mark in 2025 and that’s due more to the lack of experience than with talent. Losing Heard really sucks for that 2025 season but we have some dudes that have a lot of potential.
The key will be to get this defense back to LSU standards by 2025. Our entire defense should be veteran with talent we are accustomed to. If there are any misses, we can grab a stud or 2 out of the portal but I really think that 2025 is the year, but i will take next year ha.

Tried to force some stuff early, needs to work on setting his feet.

Overall, he looked really good. 69% completion is damn good and throwing some dimes on the long ball with a couple screens shows his progression.
He can run fast according to him so he needs to take advantage of that to keep the defense honest as others have stated.
The Oline will be his friend in pass protection but they have to scheme better in the run game or play action is gonna disappear and he will be one dimensional. There is work to do but that was a great start.

The trick play was his worst throw - had a wide open guy and decided to aim for the cheerleaders.
Other than that I was very impressed. Felt like BTJ should have fought back to the ball more on the pick.

My favorite thing was after the interception, instead of sulking and taking a seat on the bench, he went to BTJ and talked to him about the play, realized he messed up and took the blame. Love that communication with his play makers.

There was more looking to the sidelines for the check than there has been. That tells me that he’s not quite there yet. But that’s not to say that he didn’t seem very comfortable with handling all of that.

I don’t think there is any chance a new coordinator comes in and changes the offense.

1st career start, started off shaky but led the Tigers to a comeback win in a bowl game. That’s something huge to build on for next season.

Started by setting the record for punts and non scoring drives in a half for this season. Then he kept getting stronger and we finally caught back up at the end.

I can agree with this.
The one thing that worries me is when he gets fired up he gets very fired up and forces things.

It's quite obvious that the coaches have a lot of confidence in him. He was slinging it from the get-go.

It’s Kelly’s offense. That’s at least partly why Denbrock left.
