To get a moment like Nikki had last night. That's pretty much it.

If you can't get past obvious Dem plant questions you shouldn't even be in the race.

Great question. I suspect as always, The Narrative and its demand for racism dictates the “need” for such questions.

Again, the answer is obvious:

to get the answer they got from Nikki last night.

Dems are going to hit her/anyone with far tougher, more irrelevant questions than that.

The democrats of that time tried to keep the Republican candidate off the ballot too.

And now all of the Democrats who fought against ending slavery and fought for segregation in the South are now or would be Republicans. What's his point?

Would have been much better if he told them that question has been answrerd ad nasuem, its irrelevant for the current state of affairs and we are focus on whats happening now not something from 150yrs ago

He should have added that it was white women in the Democratic Party that lobbied to deny voting to black men.

Here's a dirty little secret: Nobody on this board and no one in real life is REALLY that emotional or invested in the Civil War.

People will argue, curse one another, argue semantics, virtue-signal and pretend to give a shite, but at the end of the day, people don't REALLY give a damn.

This is a gotcha question aimed at perpetuating the LIE that the Right is more racist than the Left, nothing more and people will take the bait and make arguments based on little bits of History and little bits of bias.

We have come so far in such a short time that to do anything other than completely dispassionately discuss the UNASSAILABLE facts (heh) is a disservice to the Nation.

It happened.

It was terrible.

What rose out of the ashes is what matters.

We face far, far greater threats at the moment.

Not true at all. Democrats of today are the same racists they've always been..

Probably trying to justify 'reparations.'

What I've learned most about the Civil War has nothing to do with the Civil War. It's about European history.
There is a very strong pattern that America did whatever England did....20 years later.
The industrial revolution, railroads, technology, etc. were all invented in England and we caught on years later.
England had abolished slavery. If the Civil War had never been fought America would have abolished slavery a few years later.

England laughed at how primitive we were. They famously said: 'Mark Twain is the first really good American novelist.' They had a point.

And then the narrative is that he refuses to talk about or condemn slavery...

His answer was relatively perfect.

It's an attempt to get some sort of soundbite that can be played as an underscoring of Biden's rhetoric.
