I thought Croom was a great coach. That just was not a good situation.

My theory as stated above.


Willingham was hardly unqualified, especially considering he had more success at Stanford, where it's basically impossible to win consistantly, than any coach ever, including Bill Walsh. He had a better record than Weiss at ND. Walked into a horrible situation at Washington and couldn't turn it around, which he acknowledged
