How likely is it we see the Balkanization of the States in our lifetime?

After what Colorado pulled, assuming more states will follow, it seems something drastic will take place.

We've been on the Road To Balkanization since the Immigration Act of 1965

I think there is a good chance.

It will require a significant crisis to trigger it.

I would wager war or finances as most likely.

Getting fairly untenable with the mass illegal immigration in the Southern border states right now. Which is why I fully support my Texas taxpayer money going to transport of illegals to NYC, Chicago, and any other sanctuary city/state.

Need to send a shitton more to Martha's Vinyard as well.

As mentioned, it would take a tremendous amount of personal hardship for the American people. Much, much more than what we’re presently experiencing

There are a few low-friction ways that a hyper-partisan governor can functionally secede from other states -- not recognizing professional licensures, degrees/ credentials, disallowing expenditures of state funding.

Anything decided by an appointed "state board".

DC doesn't have representatives (and they shouldn't)... hit the constituents so they scream at the politicos.

DC should have never had residential property. Offices/commercial only.

No, but it’s where the reps have to see it every day, along with all their staffers and the entire executive branch as well as every other branch, all the government contractors and lobbyists….. as well as the families of all the above.

That’s the shortcut to pressure.

To mobilize the masses, I agree with you. However, if this bullshite in Colorado is not overturned by the SCOTUS with extreme prejudice, it will be an accelerant added to a fire. Some people are waking up, but that will open more eyes of dullards who still haven't figured out there's a civil war going on.

Division of the people re basic beliefs and allegiances always results in war. War first and then the establishment of ("Balkanization") 'states/nations/etc'. I think a lot of people believe and hope that the 'war' period can be skipped, but that is highly unlikely given that the disagreements are core principles wherein there is little space for compromise and coexistence. Think Marxism vs Constitutional Principle or Jewish State vs Hamas/Islamism.

IMO, we are very close to the 'war' period. Enjoy this Holiday time with loved ones, and if you are Christian, pray for Jesus' mercy and vision in the coming years. Herding cats in not the ticket to utopia. Educating the cats is, albeit many 'cats' are unable to know/see, for various reasons.

Lord have mercy on them who worship Love.

Considering my age I kind of doubt I'll see it though I'm not totally sure of that but if things stay on the current path they are on you younger folks here might.

The variable is you just never know for sure what events the future may hold

I agree. The scary part is that level of hardship or tension could escalate very quickly. Think the George Floyd riots times 100. I think this coming year, leading up to the election will be ever increasing tension. I expect Dems and Rino's to become desperate, there is no telling what they will do to keep Trump out of office.

Texas has allowed unfettered Illegal Immigration for over 40 years now. What a shithole of a state.

Texas isn’t currently a nation. I think they believed that joining a nation came with some benefits

At what point do Texans defend their own border and state? Are they scared? What has to happen for them to do this? The federal government under no administration is going to stop illegal immigration.

I think by 2050 the U.S. constitutional government will be imploded. What happens after that is anyone's guess.
