Universities ceding their rights to broadcast networks is so ridiculous in this day and age. Why would the SEC need espn, fox, or cbs to air any games.

The SEC is rich and capable enough to start a streaming service for their conf games.

A big part of the wealth of the SEC comes from the tv contract so I'm not so sure about this. The ESPN deal is worth an estimated $300 million per year.

A streaming service would need 1-3 million subscribers per month, depending on pricing, just to equal that revenue. And that's without factoring the overhead of cameras, crew, etc.

SEC could go mega conference and start their own network to take over
