Transmission power is only a small part of the picture, the others are the sensitivity of the receiving antenna and blockage, which is pretty much zero for talking to the moon. You can buy a satellite phone the size of a snickers; is that a big hoax?

This thread however proves how dumb we are as a country though. And how many people simply dismiss the existence of technology simply because they can’t understand it.

Mostly true, transmission will still reduce in power over distance . More amusing is the phone call Nixon made to the astronauts, with absolutely no delay in their transmission being received.
