The Pontalba apartment is owned by the city and to be used for entertaining guests, business leaders, and visiting dignitaries. It not intended to be used as the mayor's personal love shack. She was previously warned by the city council, but LaToya being a strong black woman, she ignored their guidance. As usual.

The issue isn't renting an apartment at fair market rates. The implication was that she was suspected of soliciting a free apartment or possibly a deeply discounted rent. The T-P didn't have the balls to print that.

Anyone who doesn't realize by now that LaToya is a corrupt piece of shite who's sole concern is bleeding the taxpayers for her own personal gain isn't paying attention at all.

I’m with SlidellCajun on this one. I love New Orleans and hate LaToya.

But I don’t understand the criminal offense here and you all are saying “it’s implied” “you can’t be that stupid if you think that’s all”. I want a clearly defined criminal offense here. That doesn’t require reading between the lines.

So a person donated to her political campaign. And she asks to rent one of their properties. That isn’t illegal. Even if the tenant was like “hey I’m a big fan of what you’re doing for the city you can rent it for $10” that’s not a crime either. Even if she negotiated for a cheaper price or whatever. That’s not a crime.

……… some of you really want her nailed to a cross that you’re just worked up into a frenzy.

I don’t see the point of this article. It isn’t outlining a web of dirty money and corruption just yet.

With City money or her own money? Is she suspected of trading with political favors? I don't quite understand what they're investigating. I think the woman has zero morals and I'd love to see her go down. I don't think I understand this investigation, though.
