He would have to be healthy to do so , he was never going to play this year with the injury he had and how close to the start of the season it happened

then we abandoned the punt return game and didn't try to do anything with it even against the cupcakes.
First, our defense rarely forced any punts. Second, why take chances in the return game when you have the best offense in the nation?

In my opinion there’s too many guys to feel confident in that. Definitely think Ibieta could contribute but won’t be shocked if he doesn’t.

He decided to fully focus on rehabbing his injury last year. He could have played.
While he can run, legitimately run no doubt, I say no. Lacey and Hilton to me are the clear WR #1 and #2. With Thomas coming in from State (4**** out of HS and productive this year with a horrible offense at State) he will be a clear 3rd and Punt returner. You add Sampson, Anderson, etc. I don't see him cracking the top 5

It would be nice to see guys like Sampson and brown in the bowl game

While one of of those guys may have shown flashes in games and the others may have shown flashes in practice or on tape, none of them have proven their consistency yet. It would seem to me that the WR room is wide open going into next season.

I realize that, but we didn't do anything with it last year either when our offense wasn't nearly as good.
If you don't work on that kind of stuff against cupcake opponents, it seems like a waste when you have a chance to see what guys can do for the future. You won't always have an excellent offense, and good punt returning (or at least good punt fielding decisions) can save your arse rather than being pinned deep and just trying not to turn the ball over inside your own 10.

I think he finds his way in the rotation

Can't keep having wide open easy drops (Lacy)

Well I think Lacey has shown he can play, Hilton has flashed and made some plays, ? for him is staying healthy. Z. Thomas has proven it on the field in SEC play. So to me going into spring ball, there are your WR 1 to 3.
In my view, the issue is who is WR 4. I can see LSU using more 2TE/2WR/1 Back sets vs. 5 WR (empty) next year with Nuss as QB. We could see some more under center with traditional play action integrated in the offense.
With a 2 TE set, you can run the ball with a physical run attack and still have the potential to get 4 guys in pass routes and use 1 TE or your back to block (6 man protection) or get 2 WR and 2 TE out in routes with the back as a protector and check down.

I still believe in Hilton… Hoping he has a big year for us

Lacey has caught as many tough passes as he's dropped gimme passes. He's fighting a mental issue right now. Hilton got benched just last game for lack of effort. Thomas is a projected first round draftee. So I'm not sure what WR people think has locked down his position.

No doubt…..patience young grasshopper. Knows how to read coverage, always where he is supposed to be. Football IQ and athleticism will definitely have him on the field.
This kid was on the same “Bootlegger’s” team as Anderson and others. His skills will not be an issue.
Let’s see what happens….

If Hilton can stay healthy, he’s going to crush it…he’s got wheels. Always seems to get the injury bug

Yes he had surgery to fix his nagging injury. Kid is fast and good hands

And yet all those guys have caught more balls than anyone else on the roster going into 2024. So my view, that is all it is, Lacey/Hilton/Z. Thomas are my predicted top 3 WR. Other folks here might have a different 3 than me. That is ok.

I'm looking forward to Kyle Parker bursting on to the scene.
