Our schedule next year is BRUTAL. The polar opposite of this year's schedule. Unless we see a drastic team turnaround, we are going to lose a lot of games no matter the coach.

Our cap situation is, as always BRUTAL, and its not getting better.

We are stuck with Carr AT LEAST 1 more year, if not 2.

Our roster age is I believe the oldest in the league.

We will have a pick in the teens, at best.

None of that will change with a new HC and staff.

What should happen is DA should be given the opportunity to right the ship. That includes making coaching changes. DA should be called into a meeting with Gayle and Mickey and he should be prepared to explain his vision for improving this team and the teams record.

I disagree with the tankathon folks. If you listened to Jon Stinchcomb the other day he said tanking or losing games on purpose can have a devastating effect on the culture in the locker room.

I think you try to win every game you can but upper management has to take all that in context and not let a bad team losing to a less bad team blind them to the reality of the situation.

Dennis from what I know is a good guy and well liked coach but he's not the tough hammer that CSP was. We may see that change a little this offseason and see DA make some Sean Payton-esk decisions on players and coaches.

My concern is what a cornered DA will do to save himself. They have already leveraged the future pretty hard. They can still do more damage. Also with solid mid-round picks in 2024, I’d almost take my chances with a new regime. However If Loomis is still here then I guess the draft strategy will be poor either way.

No asst coach candidate is going to take a position under DA, unless the org grossly overpays with a multi year guarantee. Everyone will kow that DA is a dead man walking barring an unreal turnaround.

Agreed. You can’t just tell players not to try. A lot of these players are still playing for bonuses annd incentives. Most NFL careers are very short (I think the average is like 3.4 years). Not all of these players are going to retire from the league as multi millionaires. Others are playing for their next contract - which could be life altering money. They have to try.

If you want to tank, you need the GM to do that prior to the start of the season. You can’t just tell players 14 weeks into the season to try to lose (not that they need to try). That would get around the league super quick and you’ll both lose players and not be able to attract good ones in FA.

this is BS propaganda the FO has given to Underhill and other media. No one is saying you go out and intentionally lose games, but we have a very flawed roster with tons of dead money on the books. Continuing to kick the can for mediocrity is stupid. And guess what? The locker room culture is clearly already shite. So what are we afraid of there?

We were told DA was promoted to continue the current culuture established by CSP, he has failed.

DA has a pretty large sample size as a HC to show you he's not the guy. He's not a young HC figuring it out, he clearly hasn't learned from his past failures as a HC. Its senseless to hope and pray he suddenly becomes a respectable locker room presence. In fact, if he suddenly started trying to be a CSP-like hard arse they'd view him as even more of a joke than he currently is.

No you should not get the chance to right the ship Dennis. You fired your defensive coordinators after one year, should have done the same with Pete.

Half a decade of losing records is enough to decide.

What the hell has Dennis Allen ever done to given an opportunity to right the ship?

Like one thing about his head coaching career that gives you even a trace of confidence he could turn it around?
