Christmas Eve bonfires on the levee

I've always wanted to see the Christmas Eve bonfires. I am determined to go this year. I need advice on where to park and how to proceed. I don't mind walking but I want to be in a good location.

I haven't been in over a decade. Use to be a good time.
Don't quote me on this and Im open to be corrected but from what I've heard is that cultured Canadians have gotten the memo that it's a fun way to pass a good time as well.

Been many times but have family down there, so am able to park and what not.
I haven't seen a ton of culture where we stand in Gramercy.
Parking can be a BITCH from what I see.
Whatever you do do not try and go down River Rd. Take the back roads and park in the neighborhood somewhere. If I recall closer to Main St over there are some lots/fields.
OBviously there are a good many towns that do it though

Snow Mexicans are making that trip for bonfires? Spirit airlines got a deal?

Don't go in via the Gramercy exit. Take Hwy 22 to Hwy 70, to Hwy 3125.
Also, don't go all the way into Gramercy. That's where the undesirable crowds gather.
Take any street to the right off 3125, park in one of the fields or on the side of the road in front of someone's house. Ask if you can park there first. They're friendly folks and rarely say "no". Hell, they'll probably ask you if you're hungry and offer you some food.
We usually end up on the Paulina side of Lutcher, and have never had a problem when bringing the kids.
It's just a few blocks of walking to get to the levee. Port-O-Potties, although dirty, are available. There are usually a few places selling food also.

Cultured Canadians are fancy people from Canada who come in and have a good time and cause no problems for law enforcement.

You could turn there, but we go a little past that. Usually turn right on King Street, the road next to the bank, or 2nd /3rd street.
That will get you up in the neighborhoods, and you can drive around until you find parking. It's easy to park around the baseball fields and walk in.

I don't know if where we stand is technically Grammercy.
But where we do stand its pretty damn uncultured

Turn on Lutcher Blvd (3193) off 3125. Try to park anywhere you can after you cross the railroad tracks. Better get there before dark. They light the fires at 7pm. If you're coming down 3125 from 22, you can turn on 642 and head towards the Paulina Catholic Church. The farther you can get from the bridge the better, but don't go past Paulina, as the fires are pretty sparse headed towards Convent.

Drive in from the Hwy 70/3125 side. The Gramercy side (614/3213 to the bridge) is a traffic nightmare.
Darker orange zone is where you want to be.
Stay in the orange area, or closer to Paulina, and you'll be fine.

Most folks are very welcoming but it helps if you know someone that lives by the levee.

Yes. We pack an ice chest with wheels. Doubles as a place to sit down.
Here's some photos from last year. Just a bunch of good people and families:
