Any brands to stay away from?

I'm planning on purchasing a ~20 CF garage ready upright freezer in the next week or two. There are very few ready to pick up around me, mostly Midea. I'm not against waiting for another brand to ship if Midea is poo.

Usually I buy stuff like this at costco... they have the returns forever thing but usually the brands that sell in costco will take care of you without having to use that, even outside of the official warranty.

We got lucky with a scratch and dent one, always check those places and the off-aisle at Lowe's and home Depot.

We have a Whirlpool and we're happy with it.

+1. I bought a 16 cu ft Maytag from Costco online about 1 year ago - happy with it so far, no issues.

That's what we have as well. It's been good so far. Our last one was a chest type from 1983 and finally gave up the ghost this spring

I wish they still made 'em like they did then.

I have an insignia from Best Buy. It has been excellent. When looking I noticed like 5 different brands were actually all the same freezer.

I have a Maytag 20cf +/- and like it. Looking to add another Maytag now as well. They have a 10yr compressor warranty. Or at least used to.

Well like I said above. That's a whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, jennair, Amana freezer. Same stuff. I guess the warranty could be different but it's all the same parts. Not alot of variety especially in freezers.

I ended up going with a 20 cf Fridgidaire. It was the only 20 cf garage ready freezer that I could have delivered for free within a week.

Bought a whirlpool Gladiator fridge and upright freezer from them for $899 or $999 about 5 years ago. One of my favorite purchases since owning my home.
They’re on wheels, the fit in a nook that I have perfectly, and they have a “kick plate” that opens them (so I can walk outside with a giant pot of something and open the door without needing hands).

They’ve shot up in price and are about $1500. I like the design and would replace either unit.
