quote:
I don’t think Jesus would be upset that we (any Christian) would honor His Mother.
Luke 11:27
As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and blessed are the breasts that nursed You!”
Luke 11:28
But He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
Jesus made it clear. It's not about Mary, in any form, whatsoever.

quote:Mary did hear the word of God and obeyed it. She was asked to be the mother of God and she said yes - even though she was chosen long before - which is why she is the immaculate conception. A pure vessel to carry the Son of God. We should be thankful for her, or we’d have no way to Heaven.
But He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
We ask her to pray for us. We ask her to ask Jesus. He listened to her at the wedding at Cana - we hope He still listens to her now.

That's not what he's saying here. Yes he's focusing on obeying the word of God. He not making a theological statement about the veneration of Mary.
Edit: I'm no theologian and am certainly not prepared to have this debate, especially here. But here's a nice write-up if you care about the true catholic position on the matter.
