How about meet out for a coffee or a drink to scope each other out, make sure she isn't an axe murderer, and then back to the house for cooking together, some wine and a movie?
Way cheaper and more fulfilling than spending a couple hundred on overpriced everything
Three of my wife's friends used the dating apps. All three wouldn't consider anyone who wanted to meet over coffee and such. All three were attractive, single and middle aged.

All three have a good shot of ending up saggy, single and old.
Any woman who wants you to buy them more than a drink/cup of coffee just to meet and talk should be a hard pass.
Couple dates in? Sure take her to a nice steak house. But I’m not spending $200 just to talk to you.

This is not realistic and most girls would find it weird. Going to a restaurant for drinks then end up ordering food is typical
And that's why they'll most likely still end up single. Guys these days are onto this entitlement crap and are checking out. The trends/stats show that people are becoming single and remaining single more and more all the time. No wonder.

Most of my friends that have done dating apps would meet for either coffee or more likely, drinks. They wouldn't plan on it being a big "date" on the first date. It's a meet each other and decide if it want a real date.
