OMG!
"Why even play?" - to win your conference, which means you are "the best" in your conference
So, then they ranked the 5 Power 5 Conference Champs #1-5 and compared them together. The records keep getting brought up, but you have to take into consideration each team' Strength of Schedule. That HAS to matter, or everyone would start schedule sorryass competition to ensure a perfect season every year. So, looking at the SOS of the Conference Champs:
SOS:
#5 ALA
#11 WASH
#13 TEX
#33 MICH
#55 FSU
It's clear who the teams are that "earned" their way in. Maybe FSU should have scheduled tougher competition. And, maybe they should have orepared their backup QBs better, like Urban Meyer did with Cardale Jones in 2014 at Ohio State, when that 3rd string QB didn't miss a beat and led OSU to a championship. BUT, he proved it to the committee BEFORE selection Sunday by smashing Wisconsin 59-0 the week before. Both FSU QBs have not shown that ability in the 2 weeks that they have had the opportunity to do so. Maybe if Rodemaker had done so against UF, it would have helped FSU, but he didn't. Sorry, FSU. I really am. But, it is how it happened.
Just for good measure - IF UGA had beat BAMA, their SOS is #37, which would not have helped FSU in any way. Same result for FSU.

FSU’s SOR was ahead of Bama. The SOS argument holds little weight since another metric of that has FSU ahead lol.

quote:LSU, Miami, Florida. 3 power five teams that are traditionally very good teams. Alabama only had 1 power five team Texas. But hey they beat middle Tennessee, USF, and Chattanooga.
Maybe FSU should have scheduled tougher competition

They play in the ACC and voluntarily scheduled two SEC teams non-conference.

You realize sos has a lot do do with subjective rankings correct?
