Fox News
President Biden invoked a Cold War-era law in a surprising move Friday to pour taxpayer funds into domestic manufacturing of electric heat pumps, an alternative to gas-powered residential furnaces.
In a joint announcement with the White House, the Department of Energy (DOE) said the federal government would award a "historic" $169 million for nine projects across 15 sites nationwide in an effort to accelerate electric heat pump manufacturing. The significant level of funding was made possible after Biden utilized the 1950 Defense Production Act (DPA) to increase domestic production of green energy technologies.

Along with retooling auto factories, sounds like we are headed toward socialism.

Natural gas is a cheap clean plentiful fuel source.
Therefore let's destroy it.

Defund the federal government.
I really wish we, the tax payer could pick where our money gets spent. I know we get to vote for the clowns that spend our money. But, I mean getting a list once a quarter or once a session. Here are the 100 things they want to do and the money. Yay or nay.
I know that is not realistic, but man I hate our governments.

In the south, my electric heat pump works fine for this climate, I’m sure in the north, with actual winters, it’s worthless.

In my penny pinching divorced years, I never cut my heat on, and could easily do it again if my family could stand it. But my fat a** has to have some AC, that’s a different story.

Seems like there should be a vote in Congress within x amount of time to either uphold them or repeal them. Same with letter agency regulations. Just my .02 from my politically sophomoric mind.

We built a house out in the county years ago in a brand new subdivision that had not yet run NG. We had no option other than heat pump. It worked fine until it got below 40 or so. Then it would run continuously to keep up. I'm sure they are better now but they still can't be as efficient as NG. What is the emergency and why can't this be challenged?

Same experience we has also ….. I’ll never install another one as long as I have a choice.
