Bellevue Meat in Bellevue, LA and Dowlings in Simmsboro, LA are both very good

Dowlings is my go to. I dropped off a couple there 2 weeks ago and they said they were taking in over 100/day. It's crazy the amount of deer they take in a year. Mr. Dowling told me a few years back that they average around 4000/season.

I dropped one off at Bellevue opening weeked of rifle season Area 2 and got ticket #894.

I was picking it up a week or so ago and talking with a couples of guys dropping one off. The guy running the place comes out and starts talking about the weather and number of deer coming in and asked the guys dropping off what number they had.

They said "We have ticket #2246."

To which the guy replied, "That's 2246 deer we've taken in so far this season."

Got some smoked sausage done there last year. It tasted like they added a bunch of the pepper seasoning normally used in breakfast pan sausage. Is that how their smoked sausage normally tastes?
