Forgive my ignorance

With all of the cornerback needs discussion happening, are these guys going to be WRs? Or is it just truly unknown as to what position or side of the ball they will play. Thanks

Ju'juan Johnson
Joel Rogers
Tylen Singleton

Usually WRs, DBs, and return specialist unless they are on the bigger side and can play LB or DE. In LSU's case most likely DBs if they are capable because that is a major position of need.

I went to 247 and Johnson was listed as a Safety and Singleton as a LB.

Johnson and Rogers both play on offense in high school which is pretty common

Johnson will either be a CB, NB or S and a return specialist and should see the field early if it's CB

Rogers will be a S in college most likely

Singleton will likely play LB but needs to add some weight for the rigors of sec play

Nice! Helps shore up a some of the needs but definitely need more in the DBs

And hopefully this extended playing times for the freshmen DBs this year pays off in the long haul

I also think Mike Turner could play some DB

I think all the 2024 ATHs we have are natural S or WR except Singleton (who is a LB/large WR/TE). Some may end up getting a look at corner and/or return because of need.

(ETA: Johnson is the one guy that might get a strong look at corner, but it is not his natural position, IMHO. Of course, Corey Webster was a "natural" WR, so what do I know?)

Johnson has occasionally played corner in a few bigger games for LCA. I think most projections are he will be a CB at LSU. But he will have a learning curve.

My understanding is he has looked exceptional at camps, particularly considering he does not play the position typically in HS. I'd appreciate it if one of the guys on here who keeps up with the camp action could correct me where I may be wrong on that.

Seems 247 shows Michael Turner's postion as a safety. But with his height, track speed running 100 meters, and high jumping ability, you might be on to something thinking he might be a guy who could play CB. LINK

Johnson has those hips that are on a swivel. He can go from backpedaling to running full speed in the opposite direction in just a few steps.

It's the one quality that all elite boundary corners possess. He explodes out of his break and has excellent closing speed that will help both jump routes the QB is late on and recover if he tries to jam but doesnt move the receiver off his route.

I think Johnson can be really special at corner. He plays QB in HS, which quite a few converts have said that really helps a DB, by knowing how a QB processes information and utilizing that from the DB position.

So yeah, I'm super high on Johnson as a boundary corner.

JuJuan Johnson is the best HS football player in Louisiana. He’s going to be a baller.
