The internet says it’s easy. Anybody have experience with this? Will we be screwed if we rely on Uber to take us from winery to winery?

We went six months ago and it wasn’t as readily available as we would’ve liked. We ended up befriending an Uber driver at the end of our second day and paying him cash to take us to our dinners and wineries for the rest of the trip. Most Uber drivers seemed to offer this option as they would hand us their business card after each trip. It was way cheaper than hiring a private driver.

This is for Napa only. We never went to Sonoma.

It’s not as available as you think. We used I think it was WeDrive one day and it was great.

We didn’t try it but a few wineries discouraged it on their websites as you may be left stranded.

Just a rent a car. It is a lot easier to navigate through wherever you need to go

I think they are asking about uber to avoid drinking and driving.

I just booked my rental car for Dec26-30. We will be in Napa 2 days. We are doing 2 wineries a day, so I believe we will be fine.

We went in June and we used Squire Livery (a private driver) for 2 days. It was nice not having to worry about arranging a driver every time we wanted to go to a different winery. It was a good option for us because we had a group of 6, it would be costly if you weren't splitting. The other days when we were only going to one or two wineries, we just drove.

Yep. Don’t want to drink and drive. What about hiring a driver to take us from place to place? Any recommendations?

Kent with Squire Livery is a great driver/host. He can create an itinerary for you, or you can give him a list or places that you want to go to. If he sets it up for you, all of your tastings will be private and a lot of the time he will set you up with the owner of the winery (he focuses a lot on smaller wineries). It's not cheap though, at $125/hr.

Have never done it so I can’t answer your question. But I can see it being difficult. Depending on where you want to go, some of these places are pretty remote and spread out. And Sonoma is a big county. Would recommend hiring a driver.

We hired this lady, I want to say the name was moon dog or coyote moon taxi, she came to our Airbnb and drove our rental car. Was much cheaper than other livery options. I still wonder exactly how illegal it likely was. She did take us to some great off the beaten path spots, besides other stuff we had planned.

LINK

check out this link. My buddy runs this Napa tour using these adult size scooters. Ive done this tour and it's a blast without having to drive. I drank wine everywhere I went and was still sober enough to ride these.
