Colorado was on fire. They probably played the best game they will ever play.

They just looked like they had just gotten off the plane. And there is little doubt Kim was letting it happen. I think she knew they needed a wake up call.

They looked tired. They need to play fast and quick and stifling defense is Kim’s way of getting that going. Well they practically played no defense. No closing out on threes. No sliding in front of driving players. Poor blockouts.

On offense we looked like we’d never seen a trapping zone. Then we missed a ton of shots thru the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

And Colorado played really well.

But Mykala Williams is the real deal. They need to feed her and run the offense thru her. Not HVL. I was less than impressed with Morrow. She took a bunch of bad shots.
I don’t know why we didn’t play Del Rosario until the end. Big girl was giving us fits.

That seems like a typical fan trying to justify why we got our tail kicked in. Kim wasn’t letting it happen. We played a team that had way more experience and a bunch of returning players. Our team has a lot of talent but have not figured it out yet. They most likely will by seasons end.

There’s word going round that Kim had the managers go out and by a pie for each player. When they got back to the locker room they each had one in the locker. She saw this coming. Listen to her pregame interviews. It’s no different than Tenn in the SEC tournament last year.
You obviously either didn’t watch the game or don’t know Kim. She was very quiet with her arms folded for the entire game. She never took timely timeouts. She was 100% letting it happen.
We had a play where HVL tried to throw it to the wing and they jumped it knocked it out of bounds. Kim shakes her head. The exact next play, she does it again but it’s out on us. Kim’s shakes her head.

We are talented and unmotivated. Kim knows she has to change that. This game will help. That game was all about the 15% effort they put forth.

I’ll add. It’s probably not a bad thing that in a game where all the upper class players played poorly, Mykala balled out. I hope it helped some players realize she’s a lead dog and ease that transition. She might already be your best player.
