the great jazz pianist Bill Evans (from New Jersey) in the late '40s somehow ended up attending SELU! (he later described his time in Hammond as the happiest of his life),
His brother taught at LSU, & Bill is buried at Roselawn in BR, in a nice spot under an oak tree
