LSU Player's Father

Having recently been transferred to Arkansas, I was lucky enough to be invited to sit in the player’s family section by one of my friends that has a son on LSU’s team this year. I was blown away by the lack of team unity by one of the father’s of a senior defensive player. Without naming names, a substitution was made for this man’s son on a defensive series and the team went 3 and out. While all the other families were cheering and slapping hands, he said that he would not be giving anyone a high five unless his son was playing. Later I saw his son sulking by himself and kicking things on the sideline. If this is a reflection of the “team spirit” in our locker room- LSU is in big trouble.

This happens at every level of sport. I coach CYO Basketball and you see parents like this...
Move on...

tell that father to tell his son not to kick the god damn ball unless he's a punter or kicker and he won't ride the pine. dipshit.

it wasn't his father. In fact Alem's dad turned to us and said, "He can say it was an accident, but he meant to kick that ball."

Since this is a negative story, here is a positive one about a players family:
Last year at the Arkansas game at home I sat by a lady and her son who was probably 12 or 13. The kid was wear a number 11 jersey and I didn't think anything of it just figuring he liked Perrilloux or something.
Later that game I was in line at the concessions with my friend and as we were watching the game on the TV above the line I said something to my friend about them not kicking to Trindon and Kelvin Sheppard just returned the kickoff. The kid looked at me and started jumping up and down cheering for his big brother.
Probably not a big deal, but just seeing the kids eyes light up like that was just a great thing to see even if all he did was return a kickoff for 4 yards.

I doubt it would be his parents. I would like to think with sending their son to Parkview Baptist, they are probably pretty good people.

quote:Well duh. It's obvious that was part of the trouble all year. Trouble came in the form of the kind of horrible year we had. I hope that things will change in more ways than one by the time the bowl gets here.
LSU is in big trouble.

Before you succeed in stirring the shite, I sat next to Shyrone Carey's family, and they did the same thing, so it happened under Saban too.
Non-story.

I have a positive story, as well. At the 2007 Florida game, I sat behind a player's mom and little brother. They cheered as though they were raised LSU fans, and though they had been going to games for years like me.
Without naming names, their player was not playing at all because he was redshirting. The player's father was an NFL QB and his name rhymes with the expression, "Say there".
I've sat behind "Team Beckwith" before, too, and it almost certainly couldn't have been one of them. They're rabid (in the best possible way). Ditto for "Team Holliday".
