Cam Newton?
Technically as a backup in 2007 (With Florida) but I doubt that is the intent of this post.

Correct, and since team success is such a big component now this is still a pretty good list

Kyler Murray played as Freshman, but not sure if he play against us
Marcus Mariota was freshman in '11 didn't play in the game
Steve Spurrier* was a Freshman on the team but didn't play in the game since they werent eligible

Lamar Jackson, Johnny Manziel, Tim Tebow, and Jason White are the 4 in the same season they won it in the past 30+ years. I don't know before that...

We beat Charles White on the field.

I don’t think that should matter.
ND & Utah have both beaten a Heisman winner this year

In the year they won the Heisman, or at the very least, after they won the Heisman.

John Cappalletti, Penn State running back. Played them in a bowl game after he won the trophy and made him look like a crippled man in a track meet. Totally emasculated him.

Maybe OP was talking about at any time then

It was an extremely wet, slick field, but Cappalletti did manage to rack up 50 yards under those adverse conditions. LSU's Warren Capone said, “He’s better than anybody we’ve played,” the linebacker conceded following the game. “He’d get hit and still make 3 or 4 or 5 yards.”
