Youth hunting license question - Squirrel

I looked all over ldwf website and only see info on deer and waterfowl. If a 15 year old is squirrel hunting with a licensed adult, does the youth need to have a license? Thanks!

They only need the $5 license for deer and/or turkey or if participating in any WMA lottery hunt. That's the way i read the regs.
It says specifically youth do not require a license for squirrel, rabbits, and woodcock.

I couldn't find that on their site. I'll look again. I tried to call ldwf but of course nobody answers the phone there. Thanks for the help!

Youth Hunting License
Louisiana residents and non-residents under the age of 16 are not required to have a hunting license.
ALL Louisiana residents age 16 or older must have a resident hunting license.

Don't need a license until age 16, needs a hunter's education card if hunting by themselves. Don't need anything if hunting with a licensed adult.

I just found the pdf of the handbook and see where you don't need a license 17 and under for squirrel or rabbit. Thanks again!

How about a self-clearing permit on WMA’s? They need to fill one out under 16?

Looks like ages are 18 for license for everything. Also no WMA permit needed either until 18. Just checked the latest regs.

self-clearing permit on WMA’s?
I think so, since you have to report your activities and harvest. I always have my kids fill them out, if for no other reason than increasing the usage numbers.

Her you go:
SELF-CLEARING PERMITS
A Self-Clearing Permit is required for ALL ACTIVITIES on WMAs.
Please see page 52 for information about the Self-Clearing App.
The Self-Clearing Permit consists of two portions: Check In and
Check Out.
? All persons must obtain a WMA Self-Clearing Permit from a SelfClearing Permit Station or check in/out electronically through the
LDWF Self-Clearing Permit app/Internet Web portal. If checking
in through a Self-Clearing Permit Station check-in portion must
be completed and put in a permit box before each day’s activity
on the day of the activity. Users may check in one day in advance
of use.
? The check-out portion must be carried by each person while on
the WMA and must be completed and put in a permit box
immediately upon exiting the WMA
? Self-Clearing Permits are not required of fishers and boaters
who enter a WMA via watercraft from outside the WMA, provided they do not get out of the watercraft and onto WMA
property.
? Self-Clearing Permits are not required for motorists/boaters
traveling through the WMA provided that the most direct route
is taken and no activities or stops take place.
I assume since it doesn't exclude anyone from filling out the self clearing permit, it is required by everyone.
