But it's clear to me now the American Government and the corporate war machine that runs it, wants US combat involvement and it looks like they're gonna get it.
The subdued but steady drumbeat of war is becoming more rhythmic, more audible. Even on this very board, more and more folks are starting to get in line with yet another Middle Eastern corporate war. We're so easily manipulated into shite like this. It's almost as if war is the only way we can keep the concept of patriotism and American exceptionalism on life support. Right under the surface, we know those concepts are dying and many of us who remember the pride of Americanism are grabbing at anything that can restore us to what we once were.
We know national pride and patriotism is fading and we also know we're no longer exceptional or a guiding light for the rest of the world. So what else is there? What else do we have left other than our war machine?
Well those of you who are lightly bouncing to the drums of war, know this. The United States of America has not successfully fought a foreign war since the ancient history of World War II. We desperately cling to the romance of that war because we know we've failed at every one since.
I would say we lack the will to win these wars but that would imply they were started with winning in mind and they're not. They're started because they're corporate cash cows and to win them kills the cow.
These wars are meant to be cultivated and the bodies harvested when the time is right. They're meant to feed the likes of Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Halliburton, GE and every publicly traded military contractor in this country. This is who Americans are fighting for, not their people or way of life. They're fighting for stock options.
To win in the Middle East is to vaporize all future profits and that will never be allowed to happen.
The entire region is made and more importantly managed for war and other than energy, what else does the Middle East bring to the global table? What other purpose does that region and her people serve to the world?
America should not drop one bomb, launch one missile or fire one single bullet in this conflict. Some of us will know or come to know someone who loves a sailor, soldier, airman or marine who will die in this. And when they do, they'll suffer for our investment portfolios and nothing more.

Have a 3 day window - maximum 7 if Israel or Iran fails to blink, imho

We win all the battles then our politicians find a way to lose the war

Wonder how many defections we'll have as a result.

Yeah, but Biden and Democrat weakness is the reason we're facing war, so....

Saying predates this a-hole assuming the position, though.
All bets should be off the table here as far as precedence and tradition.

"Peace through strength" has been replace with "war through incompetence."
But hey, they're getting their pronouns approved by groomers.

Wars with the middle east are essentially fruitless because you can't tell an enemy from a non enemies. They're all friendlies until they're not is the way we treat them. You'll never defeat an army that isn't defined.
Was WWII the last American-involved war where soldiers on both sides wore uniforms?
But, to your point, I believe we pick those enemies because the waters are muddy enough to conceal where the funding goes.

War is a result of financial distress, and I’m afraid it ain’t just us that’s distressed, but we are sitting on a heap of debt and no signs of it slowing( in fact Congress is full speed ahead), and no one is buying our bonds…The current Government will need a war to distract from the impending collapse that is coming, and so will China with their economy. Let’s just hope it’s proxy wars, and our kids are saved….

Yeah, because democrat weakness was behind every war we've ever been a part of, right?

As a war veteran OP I get what you are saying. But then again there's the soldier in me that wants payback with the rag heads in Iran. From the seventies to just a couple of years ago, these sonofabitches got it coming.

We'll win this time. We have the most gender diverse military in the world.
