I'm against this whole capture & sequestration thing because its a tax dollar driven money grab created by the government and they're giving away our borrowed tax debt to eager businessmen that see the opportunity to make free cash off of a waste product they were going to throw away to begin with and otherwise get fined by the government for creating. I'm not against this whole thing because because of the injection wells themselves. People that think this is the one thing that will kill the Maurepas swamp are stupid. frick the government creating this corrupt circle jerk, not the engineers trying to capitalize on it.
This dude/dudette gets it.

Capturing air and pumping it into the ground is one of the stupider things going on in the Green space.

Yea that’s pretty spot on
We can both simultaneously think the project itself is dumb and a poor use of tax dollars while also acknowledging that the process and technology being used on the project is not a real threat to anyone’s community. And in the end it’s a net positive for the local economy. Hell this project was announced a year before the $85/ton IRA bill was even passed so it’s not like they needed the tax dollars to make it viable.

The project was always going to receive 45Q benefits, but yeah, at the time it was announced, 45Q was in the $50/ton range, I think.
Also, anyone who has read the agreement Air Products entered into with LA Dept of Natural Resources and LA Dept of Wildlife & Fisheries for the right to sequester under the WMA knows the State of Louisiana is getting one hell of a windfall!

In other words, Air Products is going to increase their prices in order to fund a project that helps protect their right to operate, in the name of charity. "Hey, look at the good we're doing in the community."
