Probably crappie fishing. Gar are lazy and don’t make big runs, as long as you loosen up the drag and don’t get spooled it’ll eventually tire out and come up. Fish may have never actually known it was fighting anything.

I really hope they didn't kill that fish.
He was likely alive during the Korean War.

6 lb test in Sam Rayburn? That thing must have been diabetic and suffering from asthma and had a severe heart condition. Rayburn used to be pretty full of trees...that thing must have rolled over and died without fighting much..

Hit one last week 7 times with my fire exstinguisher and couldn’t kill it.

Closest I ever came to dying, I was diving on the Tennessee River. I was crawling on the bottom of a shallow creek channel water about 8 feet deep, that was full of milfoil and I crawled up on a big arse gar. He swam snout first, into the net bag that I had around my neck. It was a bad day. For both of us. Worse for him I guess.

I remember reading the story when this first broke a month ago, and I'm pretty sure they released it alive.

It annoys me that kilograms is listed first and lbs in parentheses
