I stand corrected. Excellent example for JD's chances this year.

I am now trying to understand how he beat out DeShaun and Baker since they both had more yards / TDs and were on better teams.

Either way, this actually gets me excited.

JD is right there. If Penix slows at all, JD passes him. JD will not slow on Auburn and Army.

Penix has 5 of last 7 games vs ranked opponents. Could be boom or bust.

Not a chance. They aren't giving the Heisman to a 3 loss QB who doesn't even play for their conference championship.

Tebow, RG3, and Lamar Jackson were all on 9-3 teams at the time of the ceremony (Tebow and Lamar lost their bowls to fall to 9-4, RG3 won to get to 10-3) and none played for a conference championship

Jayden definitely has holes in his game as a pure QB. And, he on occasion throws some surprisingly poor passes.

But, we're also a good bit spoiled by our Burrow experience. The dude flat out plays football. He's almost one of a kind because he honestly passes a LOT better than most QBs who run as well as he does and he runs better than pretty much 99.9% of all passers who pass as well as he does.

I'm not sure if it's going to translate to the NFL. My knee jerk reaction is to say, nope, it won't. But, then again, I really didn't think he'd develop into what we've seen in his last several games either.

IF... and that's a big IF... LSU can win out, win the SEC, he should absolutely be the front runner to win it.

Hell, he should be now!

He fell behind because of the train wreck against FSU but, if he keeps this crap up, he won't be ignored.

The Florida State game will be difficult to overcome. He will likely be a finalist and finish top 3 in voting.

Comparing the top 5 on the list...

Quality of opponents (opponent win %):
Daniels .657
Sanders .588
Gabriel .558
Penix .414
Williams .294

Quality of opponents (# of ranked opponents played):
Daniels 3
Sanders 3
Gabriel 1
Penix 0
Williams 0

Quality of opponents (opponents points allowed per game):
Sanders 24.35
Gabriel 24.4
Daniels 25.1
Penix 27.52
Williams 32.0

Quality of opponents (opponents yards allowed per game):
Gabriel 362.5
Sanders 364.2
Daniels 372.1
Penix 381.4
Williams 418.1

Clearly Penix and Williams are up there because they have played much weaker opponents.

No reason that list shouldn’t be sorted by avg per game
