Hey guys, getting ready to leave the house to head to Disney World It’ll be our first trip with our little girl (age 4) and I’m looking for any off the beaten path ideas that y’all may have.

My wife and I have gone 6-7 times each, so we have an idea on the rides, park layout, where to eat, etc. More looking for the small detail ideas - like making sure to get a button sayings it her first time at Disney, or that you can go to this store behind the castle (can’t remember name right now) and get free pixie dust if you ask. Things like that.

She loves all things Disney and princess. We’re excited to get to go!

Thanks in advance!

To clarify, are you talking about Disneyland or Disney World?

Take breaks. All the new, exciting things are overwhelming for a little mind. Go on her pace not yours or she will make the afternoon miserable.

If you have a jogging stroller (Bob or something similar), bring that. The couple of extra minutes it may take getting it on the bus is worth it. The Disney strollers are crap so bring something comfortable, easy to push and something that can be reclined so when she goes to sleep, she can stay sleeping.

Whenever possible, walk. (Between Epcot and Hollywood Studios for example).

Use the Rider Switch Service whenever you can.

Personally, I wouldn't opt for many sit down table service meals (including character meals). Save the money and the time, meet the characters in the parks and just eat at quick service locations so you can eat on a schedule that fits hers rather than making sure she's awake or in a good mood for the $200 buffet character meal.

We are bringing our 6 and 4 yr old girls for the first time in February.

I keep reminding myself to go slow and its about them.

If your trip allows, take a break from the parks 1 day. We are doing 5 days at the parks, Sun-Friday. Tuesday we are sleeping in, staying at the resort, maybe Disney springs, and mini golf (free with our ticket)

Rent or bring a stroller.

Get a postcard and stamp on Main Street. Have Disney princess sign and mail it from Main Street to yourself.

You've already done all the reservations and whatnot (best time for this thread was months ago), so too late for some of the key recommendations - close hotel with monorail access and bring your own stroller

Worst case you can use a hotel stroller delivery service there to not rent one at the parks

Don't schedule too many dining reservations and put a rest day in there

Like the postcard idea, thanks. Yeah my wife and I have been plenty ourselves but it’s a first for us with kids of our own. Just looking for off the cuff ideas, or things someone who has experience at Disney, just not with kids. I read something about doing movie night ourside at one of the resorts, or, I think it’s Fort Wilderness has a good kids playground - that kind of thing.

Unfortunately we’re WAY overpaying on this trip on food and doing mostly character dining.

Staying at pop century

So we’re going Monday to Monday and have two “free” days built in.

We did bring our own stroller. No way a 4 year old could stand a full day, much less multiple (at least ours anyway)

Have you ever looked into the on site "day care" offerings?

W've used Camp Dolphin before for an adult dinner while we were there and had no complaints

No idea what the name is, but when you walk through the castle from main street it's the first store on the right. Have to find someone in purple.
If coming from carousel towards castle, on the left before getting to the castle.

At magic kingdom, you will most likely want the Genie+ for the princess lines. Pack your rain gear everyday, even if rain is not in the forecast. In MK there is a play area inside the dumbo ride if you need a quick break, or to escape the rain.

On one of your days off, check out fort wilderness. They have pony carriage rides. You have to book the carriage ride online/phone; but can walk right up to the pony rides.

Don't know if pop century has anything, but take the foot bridge to Art of Animation and they have the weekly schedule posted by the main pool

We checked it out and while it would have been nice (was in direct sunlight and everything was blazing hot), did not think it was anything worth planning for. But, as I said in my post right above this one; check out the pony/carriage rides at Fort Wilderness.

Every resort does a movie night and has nightly activities (roasting marshmellows, etc). Ft Wilderness does it a little bigger than others but every resort does it.
