Why do we not do gold games anymore?

I may be mistaken, but I’m pretty sure it’s been a few seasons since we’ve done a gold game. I always loved the atmosphere seeing the whole stadium one color. Those games we usually did really good for some reason too.

Did lsu do any post Saban era? Seems like this was more mid to late 90’s. If I recall correctly.

The last I remember was 2013 against South Carolina when they were ranked #3. Incredible atmosphere.

That game was so awesome. Owned Clowney and Jeremy Hill had one of his best games ever. That long run he had had young geauxld ninja elated.

They were cool, looked great in person and on the tv. Very striking. I was at a number of them.
It always amused me to see a small number of ignorant coonass fans (I'm from a coonass family, I can say it)walking up to the game in a purple shirt, or a white T-shirt,or any other color shirt, except gold. Someone would good-naturedly say, "Hey man it's the gold game!"
Whereupon the coonass would puff himself up and say "OH dey don't nobody tell ME what to weah! I weah what I WANT to, ME!"
They were really sticking it to The Man, baw.

Auburn 2017 was one I believe, and maybe a recent Florida game

Because we care about winning, not fashion, Nancy.

Because nobody committed to it.

I thought we still did?

Looking at past schedules on LSUSports.net, looks like the last time we did a Gold Game was 2019 vs Auburn. We also had a Purple Game that season.
The 2020 Covid nonsense didn't have much of a home atmosphere. Looks like it was forgotten about after that.

Color games were a COVID casualty

I know a lot of people think stuff like the gold game was lame, but things like that are great for fandom and comradery

I thought 2021 Florida was our Gold Game?
I also forget what the selection process was, but is it supposed to be the first SEC home game?
TBH, themes for a game are kinda silly with our color scheme. Let it be a sea of P&G.

Gold game really helps to camouflage all the empty seats on the lower west side after halftime
