It's a tavern style beer crust pizza which not everyone likes. Also seems to be a big difference between the corporate ones and the franchise ones, the franchise ones always seemed to have the better pizza. It's a good pie, it's not earth shattering, but it's bounds better than the national chains. I honestly don't know if the hate is because those posters don't like the style, felt like it was over-hyped, or made the mistake of going to the ones in South Louisiana while they were still around. The ones in Baton Rouge and St Martinville didn't taste like they got their ingredients from the same place as the ones by the camp.

I can say that begining in a few weeks the camp order will be a sweep the kitchen hold the anchovies, hog heaven with jalapenos, chicken ranchero with jalapenos, breadsticks with cheese sauce, small cinnamon sticks, and a small peach puddin pie will be a weekly order on Friday nights on the pass through the last town in. I enjoy that style and a brick oven style the best though. Not a huge fan of the pillowy crusts or cracker crusts that seem to be the main options in South Louisiana.

Flying Heart or Flying Tiger are both good brewpubs that offer brick-oven pizzas and other items. Cool places, but check on hours for Flying Tiger.

I would recommend those places or Enoch’s for lunch after the zoo. The zoo is fine and in pretty good shape right now, honestly. If that’s your thing, it’s worth the visit.

If you’re looking for eats near campus, Catahoulas or Fieldhouse would be my recs, good “gameday” places if that makes sense.

Postgame, I’d go for Johnnys Pizza on North 18th. Should be open later than most places. Even on Saturdays, the town starts to die off around 9.

my hate for it comes from multiple angles.

A) it was entirely overhyped. If it hadnt had been hyped as much when I had it at first I might would have appreciated it a bit more, but its nowhere near as good as the credit it gets.

B) Every time I had to stay on campus for practice/meets during breaks (almost every break we had) we'd have it 2/3 times during the break. It go old FAST.

C) We always had the one by campus which I'm sure was on the bottom end of johnny's locations. I had one out in west monroe near well rd (dont remember the actual address) once and it was better but still not great.
