Big Lawn Suggestions

I'm in Slidell with about 2.5 acres of property. I have a lot of trees so plenty of shade and bare spots at the moment. Lawn seems to be a mix of grasses but I'm not sure on the specifics but there are plenty of weeds for sure!
I'm not looking to spend a ton but I would like to get my lawn in better shape but have no idea where to start. Any suggestions for warm weather lawn on a property that size?
I've been reading up on aeration, overseeding, pre and post emergents but have no idea where to start at this point and time of year. Open to any and all suggestions.

If you really don't care about mixes of grasses, I'd just aerate and overseed bermuda before a ton of rain in the forecast (watering 2.5 acres would be brutal).
It won't grow in the shaded areas, but it'll spread everywhere else and can choke out weeds. Throw some fertilizer down a couple times a year.
That's your cheapest and easiest option.
ETA:
You can then worry about the shaded areas with a different types of grass next year.

Do you want the entire property to be a “lawn”, or would you rather focus on a smaller plot around the house or front? Do you have any idea of what the current turf type is? Bermuda, Bahia, St Aug, centipede, etc?
South LA is warm season lawn territory, so you have to be careful of what you read online. I’m in several Lawn FB Groups and it ALWAYS leads to a bunch of confusion because people don’t understand the different practices. I mention this because you said “aerate and overseed”, which is very prominent right now for cool season turf areas. Not really something we’d do in South LA right now except in certain circumstances.
Unfortunately, if you have a bunch of shade, that can make Bermuda a difficult choice. It needs a lot of sun to really thrive. Its advantage is that it’s fairly easy to grow and relatively cheap.
If you want to stay relatively cheap, pick some areas to focus on. Don’t try to tackle the entire 2.5 acres at the same time. Right now we’re winding down the season for our area, so I’d focus on treating any weeds and putting down a pre-emergent for the fall. For the spring season, you’ll have to decide the direction you want to go whether it’s a complete renovation, or just try to select and encourage a predominant turf type that you have already.

You can put down annual rye as a placeholder before next season growth and then do a warm season grass.
Nothing cheaper than annual rye seed and it can grow on fricking Mars I think.

Perennial > Annual for aesthetics.
Annual is for cows.

Any recommendations on what I can put down as far as the weeds? Not opposed to getting a pull behind sprayer to spray entire yard for weeds.

Do you know the weeds you’re targeting?
Something generic like 2,4d would be safe for just about all lawn types. MSM Turf will kill Bahia so if you’re certain it’s not Bahia, it’s a great option.
If you have any nutsedge, sedgehammer will knock it out.
Pre-Emergent would be something like Prodiamine.

Annual is cheap AF and it's going to die anyway and I like the way it looks mowed.

Where I live now, I'd use perennial because it will come back. In warm states, on 2.5 acres of weeds, it doesn't matter.
Get this sack - it has done great for me on my family land in Louisiana.
Again, this is going to die and is just a pretty bandaid until you seed warm season grass in the Spring

I’m in a similar situation, but I won’t be converting the entire pasture into a lawn with turf grass. I’ll have an area around the house with a turf grass lawn and meadow/prairie further away from the house. If you just keep mowing short, then I’d bet that common Bermuda will eventually establish at zero cost except to mow. You can always treat with a pre-emergent down the road. Just don’t let your broadleaf stuff go to seed - mow it before that happens.

I've got nearly 3 acres of "lawn".
Now, I have been planting trees , etc since we've moved that will ultimately cut down the size of my lawn to mow, but it's not out of hand.
The previous owner (original homeowner of 25 years) had put down in various locations zoysia and Bermuda.
I like the zoysia the best, but there are many areas I have an abundance of crabgrass and bahia that causes me to mow more often than I'd like
