Congress is now one step closer to fixing a problem of its own creation.
The U.S. House of Representatives voted Tuesday to pass the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act. The bill, which cleared the chamber on an overwhelmingly bipartisan 424-1 vote, would amend the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act to specify that school archery, hunting, and shooting sports programs are eligible for federal funding. It would effectively undo an unintended consequence of last year’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA).
“Bureaucrats in Washington should never prevent our children from receiving safety and skills training in archery, hunting, and other shooting sports,” Representative Mark Green (R.–TN.), who introduced the bill, said in a press release. “Hunting, fishing, and archery are cornerstones of American culture, and it’s our duty to make sure that these traditions—and opportunities for students—are protected.”

Glad to see them do something right.

Did you fellas read the bill? It's literally 10 lines of text long.
424-1 made me suspicious it was full of shite. This bill modifies one act, the one from 1965, but doesn't restrict the same prohibition from being written into a continuing resolution, or the next omnibus that nobody read.
This is meaningless, and nothing to celebrate.

You can’t restrain a future congress through promises or laws made prior.
This is how Reagan got fricked on immigration fixes promised in exchange for amnesty.

It put restrictions on one specific law, not any others. I get what you think you're saying, but multiple restrictions on a couple of Constitutional amendments indicate that congress or the executive are going to do what they want.

If Dems voted for this, there will be some backdoor for shenanigans.

Alan Gottlieb and many others will disagree.

What's the catch? Can they buy weapons and ammo only from Rosemont Seneca Partners?

Why are they getting Federal funding? Why are the Feds funding schools? The Feds are fiscally irresponsible. The money should never leave the state. Why should it go to the Feds, and come back with conditions. I still can't believe Congressmen that supposedly represent their home states allow this.

Exactly. A better bill would have been eliminating the entire fund. This is full-throated support of socialism.

No it’s not. It prevents a previous law from being perniciously used to deprive archery and shooting classes of funds.

That is exactly what I read as well. If we can get that type of instruction re-introduced into schools everywhere, within one year you can expect fewer accidents and lower crime rates.
A well armed and "educated" society is extremely formidable against the criminal class! Goooooooooooooooooooooooberment criminals understand this especially well!!
