NFL and NFLPA are modifying its gambling policies. There now will be increased discipline for gambling on NFL games. Now a violation is one year, and two if a player bets on his own team.
Any game fixing will result in banishment.
Message from NFL-NFLPA: don’t bet on the NFL.

Betting on non-NFL sports from the workplace now will lead to this discipline:
First violation – two game suspension without pay
Second violation – six game suspension without pay
Third violation – suspension without pay for at least one year

As a result of gambling policy changes, Titans’ OT Nick Petit-Frere and Lions’ WR Jameson Williams will be reinstated effective on Monday. They each had served four game suspensions for violations of the league’s gambling policy.

How hard is it to not place a bet from the team facility?

I’m not really sure why an NFL player betting on an NBA game at a team facility is a problem.

There's a lot of weird rules like this in sports. I have a buddy who is an assistant AD at a D1 basketball school. He had to stop playing in our fantasy football league because it would have been an NCAA violation. His school doesn't even have football and this was not a college fantasy league. But this is the NCAA rule
quote:
10.3 SPORTS WAGERING ACTIVITIES. The following individuals shall not knowingly participate in sports wagering activities or provide information to individuals involved in or associated with any type of sports wagering activities concerning intercollegiate, amateur or professional athletics competition:
"(a) Staff members of an institution's athletics department;
"(b) Nonathletics department staff members who have responsibilities within or over the athletics department (e.g., chancellor or president, faculty athletics representative, individual to whom athletics reports);
"(c) Staff members of a conference office; and
"(d) Student-athletes.

But there’s nothing wrong with filling out a fanduel team in your downtime in the training room.

Easier to just have it as a zero tolerance policy im sure. Just wait until you're home to place a bet. Not hard.

Im guessing that is the Rick Neuheisel rule…
Slick Rick got canned from Washington Huskies FB and they got NCAA sanctions because he won a March Madness pool. I believe the problem was that the payout for doing so was insanely high (5-6 figures?).

Plenty of them are barely functioning adults.

These athletes were gambling even they got paid with big contracts. Now that they sitting on a pile of money, you’re telling them not to do?
Men+sports+ money = gambling. It’s not just about winning cash but about ego of being right and excitement.

Yeah and it extends to all types of gambling so they don't have an Agent Zero going wild west on a team flight like what happened with the Wizards.

After crittenton's murder conviction, I understand Arenas' motive.

Arenas’ motive was that he’s a fricking troll.
He woke up after Javaris lost his arse in bouray and started busting his balls about how badly he did.
Know the reason Arenas wasn’t a first round pick? He made a smartass remark during the combine that pissed people off and it got him blacklisted by enough teams he fell to the second.

Interesting, guess this is the reason I am seeing a lot of Jameson RCs hot the markets.
