I look forward to seeing how this impacts prices, sales and profits.
Newsom doing what Democrat leaders do every day, buy off voters. What does he care, when he tries to leave the state for DC.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A new law in California will raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 per hour next year, an acknowledgment from the state’s Democratic leaders that most of the often overlooked workforce are the primary earners for their low-income households.
When it takes effect on April 1, fast food workers in California will have the highest guaranteed base salary in the industry. The state’s minimum wage for all other workers — $15.50 per hour — is already among the highest in the United States.
Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the law Thursday amid a throng of cheering workers and labor leaders at an event in Los Angeles. Newsom dismissed the popular view that fast food jobs are meant for teenagers to have their first experience in the workforce.

The ramifications will be a lot more automation, then they'll tax fast food places more, and then those places will simply leave California.
They pushed this as for "large businesses" only, as if local franchisees wouldn't need to raise wages to compete for workers...

Chaos… all hourly wages will have to rise to compete for bodies.
Price of everything goes up, lots of businesses close, automation takes over…

I thought we would have fast food robot workers by now and these fast food owners wouldn't have to worry about the nuance of hiring "workers"?

They are going to break out the Robots
Or 25 Happy Meals
Crazy part is Inn n Out has been paying 20hr for a while and they are by far the cheapest

Its even worse. Part of that law allows a “board” to adjust the wages up when they feel its needed. Imagine being a business owner in fast food and have no control over your future budget.

Probably will be a wash considering gas is already $7.00/gal there. They voted for it.

So California won't have any fast food restaurants next year.
It's on the agenda.

Why not make it $50/hr you cheap bastards?

Newsom’s torching the state and running, apparently.
Signing this then getting appointed as either Senator or VP means a feather in his cap that he won’t have biting him in the arse by being there when it goes bad.

Businesses are going to close or bring in the robots.

If the robots can understand your order and get you the right thing, that puts you over most of the employees at those kinds of places in LA and SF.
Family friends out in LA quit doing most fast food 20+ years ago because ordering when the guy in the clown’s head was primarily a Spanish speaker didn’t work well.

Fast food was already crazy expensive here

The best part is, as a progressive you are too stupid to understand the very basic economic implications of this statement.
