The rumors in the twittersphere is that Nolan is interested, but he wants to do a more book accurate versions, set in the era they were written for.
I know the Book Bond as originally written is a bit different at times than how he has always been portrayed on screen.
Those that are familiar, what say you?
in before Idris Elba, Leslie Jones, etc

Rumor started by some random dude on Twitter. I doubt Nolan ever does one because of the constraints he would have.

I didn't think this needs to be said, but I was talking about a current actor for a current Bond film

Madden makes a lot of sense to me, as does Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
I love Cavill, but would be too tall and muscular to play a book specific Bond?

Benedict Cumberbatch most closely fits the Fleming description.
quote:
In the novels (notably From Russia, with Love), Bond's physical description has generally been consistent: slim build; a 3 in (76 mm) long, thin vertical scar on his right cheek; blue-grey eyes; a "cruel" mouth; short, black hair, a comma of which rests on his forehead.

If Nolan is involved then it's automatically Tom Hardy

Clive Owen
He’s too old now, but I always thought not casting him was a huge miss.

Henry Cavil would be perfect.
Unfortunately, the Bond franchise seems to be under assault like all the classic Disney movies in that there's an inexplicable urge to 'remake' it into something its creator never intended. If there's a market for a movie franchise featuring a black trans disabled spy with a nut allergy, by all means go ahead and make it, but leave this character alone.

For reference, here's Hoagy Carmichael, who Fleming twice mentioned in his books as Bond resembling a colder version of.
Vesper Lynd: "He is very good-looking. He reminds me rather of Hoagy Carmichael, but there is something cold and ruthless in his …"
Gala Brand: "Rather like Hoagy Carmichael in a way. That black hair falling down over the right eyebrow. Much the same bones. But there was something a bit cruel in the mouth, and the eyes were cold."

I don’t think he would be a good fit, but Tom Holland looks similar to the referenced Hoagy Carmichael. ( in the face)

If you are talking strictly about Bond’s description in the novels:
Cillian Murphy.

I agree here.
It would be interesting if audiences could accept a thinner, less action hero more cerebral/actual spy Bond.

David Tennant maybe. He's pretty thin tho. Is the book Bond said to be built?

In his early 50s so probably too old.
Dominic West.

Tennant is not traditionally handsome enough
